Comment Contest Nearing The End

The July comment contest is nearing its end.

The contest will officially end on midnight (EST), July 31st. I’ll check the top commentators list just after midnight to determine the winner. I’ll also randomly select one of the links to the original contest post as the second winner.

There’s still plenty of time for anyone to win. While 53 comments (as of this writing) may seem unbeatable, there are over 100 posts on the blog and you could comment on each of them. The comments must be substantial, and not simply “Great post” or “Nice article”.

The second prize for a blog that links to the original contest post is also up for grabs, with only three entries so far.

I want to thank everyone who has participated so far. The comments have been great!

  1. Whatever happens, this was a great contest, and I’ve had a lot of fun participating. I’m trying to come up with a contest of my own, and I’ve learned a lot from being a part of this one.

Like yours, I’d like to design something that requires developing the habit of interacting with my blog. I’m on Blogger, so I don’t have the comment counting plug-in.

I have learned a lot from participating in the contest from the consumer end. Your contest format is perfect for developing habits and generating excitement and anticipation.

I’m impressed with the quality of comments the contest inspired. I haven’t seen any junky “nice post” or “this is my comment” type comments.

I have a couple of regular commenters on my blog who leave genuine one-liners. Since there isn’t a contest, or any incentive to comment, and since I’ve seen the same people comment likewise elsewhere, I know it’s just their style.

Did you have to delete any junk comments, or was your policy enough to deter them?

Congratulations on a well-run and fun contest!

  2. I had a couple of one line comments that I approved, because they were from first time commentors. They haven’t since made any effort to get to the top of the list, so it wasn’t a problem.

I haven’t had to delete anything from the regular commentors, everyone’s been great about leaving legitimate comments. We’ve got a great bunch of folks commenting here!

Maybe they were legitimate, but laconic visitors.

  4. I am trying but I don’t think that I will make it to the top. With any luck, I just might do it. It looks like Juggling Frogs is going to make it. However, what i do like is that while I am commenting I have learned a lot of valuable information from you. So, thank you.
